Pictured above are the Foxears Wynton Mini-Monitors. Closed cabinet design with really nice drivers and cross-overs. Designed by Derek Hughes (London, UK) and Michael Gordon (San Francisco, USA). The above Valchromat cabinet versions are $3360/pair and real wood veneer cabinets are $3815/pair. They can be placed upright or on their sides and are extremely accurate, huge bass, and really fun speakers.
Foxears Audio is a boutique loudspeaker brand that brings to market loudspeakers with BBC heritage roots (emphasis on natural sounding reproduction of the human voice and acoustic instruments) and which use new design patterns. The purpose of these "new design patterns" is to make speakers that sound noticeably different/better.
The Foxears speakers have no direct matches to Derek Hughes’ previous or current work for other companies (most notably: Graham Audio of which Gig Harbor Audio also proudly carries). Foxears speakers use modern reed paper for the cone midranges, the cabinets adapt the BBC thin-wall construction to use a new and highly effective constrained layer damping technique, and the selection (sizes) and arrangements of drivers are different. The Wynton's driver arrangement allows superior placement flexibility and improved off-axis response.
